Google Mail

I've never been sent an actual letter from Google before. Too bad it wasn't a job offer!

Time to Write

I've been thinking about all kinds of this today as a result of watching Fox News specials for the last few hours. I'm finishing one about the Virginia Tech Massacre right now. I've also been thinking about Church today since President Packer spoke at our campus devotional. And then last night Val and I watched Shark Tank on Hulu, so I've been thinking about business opportunities all day. That's a lot on my mental plate for today.

So I thought I would just write a little bit about what's going on and some things I was thinking about all day. I remember as a younger man when there was a shooting at Columbine. I remember much more vividly when Virginia Tech was rampaged. In fact, I met with some of their students only a couple weeks after the April incident. What a sad thing when people feel they must express such uncontrolled violence in order to get attention.

I don't know what I would do without the knowledge of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. It has helped me throughout my life, but even more now as my lovely wife and I are making plans for our future. Kids, grad school, and a career await our little family, and as the future of our nation and world become ever more uncertain, I rely on God to help us and provide a way for us to survive; not only to survive, but to know what we should do and when.

Business is really suffering from our current economic situation. But what is remarkable is the ingenuity of mankind and the power of technology. Even with constant job losses in every sector of the economy, Internet businesses like Facebook and Twitter are becoming increasingly popular and profitable (well, we're still waiting on Twitter to actually make some money).

So with all the bad in our world, faith and technology give me great hope.

I know that life, in general, will not get any better in the future for mankind. There are always men who will be tyrants and oppress. There will always be greed and dishonesty. False priests will lead people away from God and teach them unhappiness, cloaked in the lies of the world.

But no matter what happens out there, my home will be a place where my family can come and be safe. My family can count on me to provide for them and to help them with anything they need. I'll teach my children, help my wife, and choose what's good in life.

Honesty and integrity will help me to succeed in my career and in my marriage. And some how, some way, I know that everything will work out.

In any case, I think that's enough for right now.

How Mel & Jason Met

This is the story, told by Oneil, about how Jason and Melanie met at his house. Taken with my phone, so you're going to have to turn it up really loud.

BYU Fight Song

Here are three of the kids singing the BYU Cougars Fight Song. Taken with my phone, so you're going to have to turn it up really loud.

The Scary Dinosaur Song

Oneil and the kids sing another song. This one includes a scary dinosaur in the mix. Taken with my phone, so you're going to have to turn it up really loud.

Spring Mobile Ballpark - Salt Lake Bees

Here is a shot of the ballpark formerly known as Franklin Covey Field, renamed this year to Spring Mobile Ballpark. Its the family night activity of our 2009 Campbell family reunion.

Zion's National Park - Part 1

The beautiful landscapes of Zion's National Park. On our trip to visit Grandpa Hardy and Betty in St. George. Taken with my phone, so excuse the poor quality.

Zion's National Park - Part 2

The infamous tunnel at Zion's National Park. Its long and not very interesting, but hey, its a cool memory nonetheless. Taken with my camera, so excuse the poor quality.

Star Trek (2009)

So I went and saw Star Trek last night and I was totally blown away. I knew it was going to be good, and I was totally excited about it, but it still blew my mind. And then the fact that all of the previews were awesome too, I really have absolutely nothing bad to say about the whole experience.

So you have to go see it. NOW!

Now because we were only 20 minutes early, in order to have 4 seats that were together, we had to sit in the second row. BIG mistake. I missed a lot of the action because I was so close. So make sure you're early enough that you can sit in the middle or back of the auditorium.

The graphics will blow your mind. The acting is great, the callbacks to the original characters' trademark phrases/personalities are flawless. But the newer actors are still their own, so its not just like watching an actor imitating another actor. The story is awesome, too.

Seriously, stop reading this now and go watch the film. It will change your life forever.

This isn't your grandpa's Star Trek anymore.
